PROS:

Boosts energy levels

Boosts concentration

Boosts brain function and health.


CONS:

Can elevate heart rate

Stomach irritability

Sleep disruption

Staining of teeth

Addictive, stopping can cause withdrawal symptoms.


Coffee meets my four tests: simple, inexpensive, effective, sustainable (#SI_lo_ES). Simple as it is a bean which grows on a tree, it does undergo some processing but not much by the standard of products today. This is not necessarily true for decaffeinated coffee, depending on the process used there is a risk of potentially toxic substances being used. Inexpensive, it is possible to get coffee at every price point, from pauper to luxury, widely available it is easy to find it at a price that is affordable to you. Effective, it is one of the most powerful and wide acting substances known to people. Sustainable, easy to get and you can drink it for the remainder of your life.
