TIME TO REVISIT PAULING .. PS

If you are operating in a high risk environment, health care, delivery, supermarkets, it is especially important for you to take what measures you can to protect your health.

Follow this vitamin regimen as outlined by Linus Pauling in How to Live Longer and Feel Better.

  1. Take vitamin C every day, 6 grams to 18 grams (6.000 to 18,000 milligrams (mg)) or more. Do not miss a single day.

  2. Take vitamin E every day, 400IU, 800IU, or 1600IU.

  3. Take one or two super B tablets every day, to provide good amounts of the B vitamins.

  4. Take a 25,000 IU vitamin A tablet every day.

  5. Take a mineral supplement every day, make sure the tablet contains iron and copper.

  6. Keep your intake of sugar low. Do not add sugar to tea or coffee. Do not eat high sugar foods. Avoid sweet desserts. Do not drink soft drinks.

  7. Except for avoiding sugar, eat what you like, but not too much of any one food. Eggs and meat are good foods. Also you should eat some vegetables and fruits. Do not eat so much food as to become obese.

  8. Drink plenty of water each day.

  9. Keep active

  10. Drink alcoholic beverages in moderation.

  11. DO NOT SMOKE CIGARETTES.

  12. Avoid stress. Work at a job you like. Be happy with your family.

I have not been able to avoid stress, but otherwise have followed this regimen for the past 25 years. During this time I have had 2 colds (both times my own fault) and no fever. Those around me have also had a similar experience. Small sample size, anecdotal, but I have been to 5 Olympic Games, 4 as an athlete and one as a coach. Olympic Games, and especially the winter ones are a hotbed of sickness (one of the reasons it was important not to have one this summer) my first two I fell desperately ill as I easily succumbed to the virus of the day. Then I was introduced to Linus Pauling and have not lost a day to illness since, including three Olympic Games, each of which was a mini epidemic.

If you do smoke, then I assume you get more from it than you know you are going to lose. Smoking destroys vitamin C in the lungs, leaving them susceptible to all manner of ill. Make a habit of taking one gram of C after each cigarette, in addition to your normal intake.

This approach is Simple and Inexpensive, you will also find Effective and Sustainable. The burden is light and it will save you money and suffering over the years.

Good luck to all.
